REALTOR® Party Candidates and Issues Win At The State And Local Level
The REALTOR® PARTY had a successful 2014 Election Day. At the state, county and city level, REALTOR® PARTY candidates and issues were decided in favor of supporting home ownership and private property rights. With the NAR State and Local Independent Expenditure (IE) and the NAR Issues Mobilization Programs, state and local REALTOR® Associations can support the candidates that stand up for the issues important to REALTORS®.
Some highlights of Election Day 2014
Candidates
- Almost 400 state and local candidates supported by IE support.
- Candidates range from city and county counsel races to state governors.
- 100 REALTORS® received IE support.
- 77% of the REALTOR® PARTY supported candidates won their election.
Issues
- North Dakota passed a constitutional amendment that prevents the state from ever having a property transfer tax.
- REALTOR® PARTY funds helped pass transportation improvement ballot initiatives in Texas and South Carolina.
- The San Francisco REALTOR® Association, working with the California Association of REALTORS® and NAR, defeated an attempt to drastically raise the property transfer tax rate in the city.
- North Carolina and Minnesota continue to wage public and legislator awareness campaigns to protect the mortgage interest deduction.
