June is National Homeownership Month
Anyone who is able and willing to assume the responsibilities of owning a home should have the opportunity to pursue that dream in an affordable and responsible way. As we celebrate National Homeownership Month this June, it’s important that we recognize the important relationship between homeownership and the American Dream.
We start tomorrow with the Sustainable Homeownership Conference in Berkeley, CA. This is one of many NAR-sponsored events designed to bring together a group of experts to examine the trends in homeownership and its impact on society. With the input of leading policy experts, real estate practitioners from around the country, and public officials, the event will discuss potential ways to reverse the decline in homeownership in recent years. We will be sharing information from that event online and NAR social media channels.
Through our ongoing public policy outreach, we keep attainable home and property ownership issues on the forefront of policy debates. HomeOwnershipMatters.realtor, the public facing website of the National Association of Realtors®’ Consumer Advocacy Outreach Program, offers consumers the latest advocacy-related news, interesting stories and informative videos on public policy issues effecting them at the state, local and national levels. This year the Homeownership Matters campaign will engage millions of current and prospective homeowners across the country in an effort to protect homeownership and property rights, which forms the bedrock of the American dream. This is an excellent resource for REALTORS® to share with potential and existing clients.
We look forward to seeing many of you in California and celebrating National Homeownership Month throughout June.
